Essential Oils

Enjoy Bug-Free Fun Outdoors Anytime!

Well, it’s FINALLY here!  The grips of cold and wet weather have given way to the beauty of late Spring and Summer!  I’m excited, are you?  Sometime around February I had begun to fear that Spring would never come – haha – but, as seasons do, the weather has changed and Summer is knocking on our door.  Kids are starting their summer break from school and pools are opening across the country so it’s time to head outside.  Hooray!!

I don’t know if the bugs are as big or as mean where you live as they are here in Southeast Texas, but regardless, I bet they are no less annoying when you’re trying to enjoy your time outside. Nobody wants to use chemical repellents that leave a stinky sticky mess on your skin, though.  Yuck!  Fortunately, my beloved Spark Naturals has a perfect solution that is all natural and safe enough for even young children.  I’d like to introduce you to Nature Outdoor Blend, Spark Naturals’ proprietary blend of essential oils, mixed with fractionated coconut oil for gentle, safe and effective use to repel pests when you head outside.

SN Nature Outdoor Blend

Nature Outdoor Blend has a lovely lemon-vanilla scent and dries quickly on the skin so you can actually enjoy your time outside.  You can apply it directly to your skin, as it is already diluted for gentleness with fractionated coconut oil; but my favorite way to use it is to add about 25 drops to a 1 oz. glass spray bottle and top it off with good quality witch hazel.  It makes a refreshing and cooling spritz that you can apply repeatedly throughout the day that effectively repels pests such as mosquitoes, chiggers, fleas, ticks, ants, flies, gnats, and more. (Please be careful not to spray it directly into eyes, nose, or mouth)

Additionally, if you don’t want to spray or apply it to your skin, Spark Naturals has added these SUPER CUTE terra-cotta personal diffuser pendants to their product line.  I don’t have one yet, but I will be remedying that situation asap.  You just add a few drops to the pendant, let it soak in/dry and wear your favorite scent all day.  (0=  These are good for any essential oil so I would recommend getting a few, one for each of your favorite oils or blends.  I can’t wait to get mine.

Terra Cotta Personal Diffuser Pendant

There are so many options for using Nature Outdoor Blend.  To keep mosquitoes and flies away from your patio or fire-pit, you could soak or spray strips of colorful fabrics or papers and hang them around your outdoor living area for a festive atmosphere free of pests.  I stapled two squares of felt onto the eaves on my portico because mosquitoes seem to LOVE to swarm there.  I no longer fear opening my front door because that area is completely pest free.

Love the scent of this! Not sweet, not to “anti buggy”… but just right!! Have been spraying it on the bed at night for granddaughter, and on her when she goes outside (she seems to be a smorgasbord for bugs) She loves the scent as well. Not overpowering, just lovely!!

Oh, I’m SO glad you are enjoying it. I think it’s a lovely scent too. A little bit woodsy but not at all over powering with just a slight floral background. Have a wonderful Summer 🙂

Love lounging by the pool or beach… especially watching the grandkids. Would love to try this for our midwest bugs!

I’ve never visited the midwest, but I’ve heard about the bugs there. BIG bugs! Yikes. Have a great summer and good luck 🙂

My favorite outdoor activity is hard to pick, but I like enjoying the warm sun in the pool, watching a softball game or just laying out reading!

I agree, it’s hard to pick what I love to do most outside. It’s really HOT in the sun here but give me a shade tree, a good book and a glass of iced sweet tea and I am one happy girl!

My favorite thing about summer is not having a full homeschool/school schedule. Getting away, doing some fun things, going to the pool… those are all great, but it’s mostly that I like having some time off from school pressures.

Me too! Homeschooling is such a blessing but it seems like it’s just so easy to get overwhelmed once Spring starts rolling around. Enjoy your Summer 🙂

That reminds me, I need to put my ice cream maker insert into the freezer so it’ll be ready. 🙂 I wonder if a long walk after homemade ice cream will negate all those delicious calories? Haha

We love almost anything outdoors! My boys play outside all the time, so if I had to pick something summer specific, I’d have to say roasting marshmallows over a fire 🙂 Great giveaway though, because the one thing I don’t like about the summer (besides the heat! lol) is the bugs!

Oh!! Roasting marshmallows is so fun, I haven’t done that in years. I’m going to have to remedy that situation in the very near future. 🙂

I love playing outside with the kids. But summer in Florida is hot all day and too many bugs in the evening. This prize would help is out a lot!

We like going outside too, but it’s too hot most of the time here in Houston as well. I guess the bugs like the South too. 🙂 Good luck.

I admit to NOT being a running fan – haha – but you’re right about the bugs. They outnumber us 10 to 1, I think. Thanks for entering and good luck.
